The Dog Paddle
Canine Rehabilitation Centre

Dog Aqua Treadmill NOW OPEN!

Welcome... At The Dog Paddle Canine Rehabilitation Centre, we pride ourselves on providing the utmost care to dogs that are rehabilitating from illness, injury or surgery. Also those with degenerative conditions such as arthritis. The pool is available for healthy pets who just enjoy swimming.
Opening in 2000, The Dog Paddle Canine Rehabilitation Centre was the first animal swim centre for dogs in Perth. Since then we have continued to grow, recently adding a fully equipped dog aqua treadmill.

Staffed only by trained Hydro Therapists, we offer a full range of rehabilitation services and crystal clear hydrotherapy facilities to meet all your pet's needs.
Benefits of Rehabilitation
Return to pre-injury / pre-trauma function
Improved mobility
Pain reduction
Prevention of further injury
Rehabilitation Sessions
Massage - A gentle all over body massage aids circulation, assists in tissue repair and pain relief.
Passive Range of Motion Techniques - Used to improve motion of joints after surgery or in patients afflicted with chronic conditions.
Therapeutic Strengthening Exercises - Used to improve active pain-free range of motion, muscle mass and muscle strength and return to pre-injury mobility.
Hydrotherapy - Swimming is a unique form of therapy as it combines joint range of motion, muscle strengthening, improved circulation and cardiovascular conditioning without weight bearing or loading of painful or healing structures.
Aqua Treadmill - Provides low impact exercises in a reduced gravity environment. Exercise is done in water to help dogs regain strength, range of motion and endurance while reducing the risk of further injury.
Exercise can still be performed while tissues heal, preventing muscle wastage, joint adhesions and cartilage degeneration. However this needs to be done strictly under the supervision of your Vet and Hydro Therapist to avoid undue stress.
Conditions Treated Include
Post Orthopaedic Surgery
Osteo-arthritis
Hip Dysplasia
Lameness

A veterinary referral is required for all first time swims if your dog has had an injury or surgery. Dogs in good health do not require a veterinary referral.
An appointment is required to allow for assessment of your dog, introduction to the pool and an individualised rehabilitation program to be devised.
Many dogs continue to swim after completing their rehabilitation, either for maintenance of their condition or as a fun alternative to regular exercise.
